SIRIUS Contactors (3RT) Everything made easy: Configuring load-feeder
Standard SIRIUS modular components are optimally harmonized with one another and can be easily combined with common accessories. These are benefits that our well-proven modular SIRIUS system can offer you for the simple configuration of load feeders. SIRIUS includes everything that you require for switching, protecting and starting motors and systems. Only seven frame sizes cover the complete power range up to 500HP at 600V.
Siemens is continually improving and expanding the modular SIRIUS system in order to cost effectively meet all of the requirements from the field. The individual components distinguish themselves thanks to their space-saving design and high degree of flexibility. Engineering, mounting, wiring and maintenance are extremely simple and fast. Whether you wish to configure load feeders using circuit-breakers or overload relays, contactor or soft starter – our modular SIRIUS system offers the optimum product for each and every application.
Advantages of the modular SIRIUS system at a glance:
- Load Feeders: Up to 500HP at 600VAC can be simply realised using standard devices.
- Modular Design: Everything fits together and can be combined as required.
- Versions and Sizes: Cost-effective and flexible using 7 compact sizes.
- Accessories: Optimum degree of variance using standard accessories for all devices.
- Assembly: Fast commissioning, short assembly times, simple wiring.
- Communications: Can be connected to AS-Interface and PROFIBUS-DP.
- Service/Maintenance: Reliable performance with extremely long service life and low maintenance.
- Spring-Loaded Technology: Fast, vibration-proof and maintenance free terminals
- Design: Clear, ergonomical design has received the iF Product Design Award.
- Environmental Issues: Environmentally-compatable production and materials, can be recycled.
- Approvals: Approved and certified worldwide such as UL, CSA, CE, CCC, marine engineering.
- Mounting: Screwed or snapped on for permanent, safe and reliable mounting.
When it comes to load feeders, a fundamental question arises as to whether they should have fuses or no fuses. The SIRIUS system allows fuseless combinations to be configured using circuit-breakers and contactors or with fuses using contactors and overload relays.
A simple starter configuration comprising of a circuit-breaker and contactor without starting steps or soft starting is the right solution for drives such as pumps, saws and similar applications. However, this also applies to large drives, for example, amusement rides and rolling mills can be directly started with SIRIUS.
SIRIUS components can be combined to give the following combinations of starters:
- Simple starter with fuses
- Fuseless starter
- Reversing starter
- Star-Delta starter
- Soft Starters
- Starters on ASI or Profibus-DP
- Starters with Safety Integrated Technology

Contactors
IEC Contactors & Starters - Offering a complete range of products designed for IEC applications, Eaton can meet any OEM's IEC Power Control needs. With globally rated contactors, starters, overload relays, manual motor protectors and combination motor controllers, XT defines power control. The wide range of applications and suitability for worldwide use call for a variety of operating voltages and ratings as well as reliable AC and DC control options. XT also dramatically reduces mounting and wiring times by allowing standard components to be combined without using tools, quickly and error-free. OEMs expect innovations in electrical engineering to bring them clear advantages by making processes more efficient, from planning and designing through fitting and installation. XT does just that. |
| Nema Contactors & Sarters Vacuum Contactors and Starters were designed for starting and controlling three-phase, 50/60 Hz, AC motors. Each contact is enclosed in a vacuum bottle to reduce and contain contact arcing. This design offers excellent performance for plugging and jogging applications. Lighting Contactors - Devices are available in both NEMA and special purpose sizes. Available enclosure types for reversing and non-reversing contactors and starters are: NEMA 1, 3R, 4X and 12. Lighting Contactors from Eaton’s electrical business are designed to provide a safe, convenient means for local or remote switching of tungsten (incandescent filament) or ballast (fluorescent and mercury arc) lamp loads. They are also suitable for other loads such as low pressure and high pressure sodium lamp loads and other non-motor (resistive) loads. They are not recommended for most sign flashing loads. These lighting contactors are designed to withstand the large initial inrush currents of tungsten lamp loads without contact welding. They are fully rated and do not require derating. Definate Purpose Contactors & Starters - Eaton’s Cutler-Hammer line of Definite Purpose products includes compact single- and two-pole devices as well as standard frame devices up to 360 amperes. In addition to the standard definite purpose line the DPCK Contactors are designed to provide peak performance and reliability on special switching applications. These heavy-duty special purpose contactors are rated for applications up to 1500V AC. Application Description Definite Purpose Contactors and Starters are electrically operated switching devices specifically designed for the heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration (HVAC) industry. They are typically controlled by automatic, i.e. thermostat, control or manual, i.e. pushbutton, interfaces. They are most commonly found in applications such as refrigeration, air conditioning and resistance heating (HVAC). They are suitable for a wide range of other low-cycle duty applications requiring low cost switching of single- and three-phase loads. The universal mounting plate eliminates changing hole patterns when replacing competitive devices. |
