SIRIUS Relays and Opto-couplers (3TX and 3TG)

Coupling relays are primarily used after a digital output. Relay and semiconductor outputs are available for this purpose. Choosing which output is the better suited will depend on the application. Relay couplers are standard for AC signals. SIRIUS interface relays are available in compact sizes, 6.2mm wide up to 36mm wide (Power Relay.

Variations:

  • Mechanical Relay
  • Semiconductor Relay or Opto-couplers
  • Power Relays

Semiconductors are primarily used for switching DC loads and high switching frequencies.

SIRIUS Relays (3RH)

The SIRIUS coupling relays to switch motors and auxiliary and control circuits have been especially designed to operate with electronic control systems.

The contactors distinguish themselves as a result of their low power drain and the wide operating range of the solenoids. The high contact reliability of the auxiliary contacts guarantees that there are no fault signals - even at low switching powers.

Sensitive output stages are protected against switching overvoltages of the coil using an integrated surge suppressor.

They are designed for AC or DC operation and are available with screw or Cage Clamp connection systems. The basic version of the contactor relays has 4 poles but this can be extended up to 8 poles using auxiliary contact blocks, which can be snapped-on.

Relay interfaces are used for control and isolation of electrical and electronic circuits. Relays offer a low cost voltage source isolation between PLC's and process control systems Entrelec, now owned by ABB has a wide range of relays and Opto-couplers to choose from with varying contact current carrying capacities and power capabilities.
  • Slim Pluggable Relays & Opto-couplers (5.08 mm wide)
  • Long Life Relays, up-to 20 million operations
  • Miniature Industrial Relays (Ice Cube style)
  • Fast contact switching
  • Low contact bounce

ABB SSAC designs and manufactures electronic controls for original equipment manufacturers: commercial appliances, heating, ventilating, air conditioning and refrigeration equipment, vending equipment, pumping equipment, elevators, etc.; for process control and automation designers; obstruction lighting control designers; and for a large group of industrial customers and service contractors.

In April 2001, a friendly takeover bid for the Entrelec Group was launched by ABB. This takeover bid was accepted and finalized in June 2001, thereby integrating Entrelec and thus SSAC Inc. into the ABB Group.
