Light curtains and light grids are active, optoelectronic protective devices. They serve as zone protection devices in the field of automation. It prevents people from entering/coming into contact with unprotected areas (e.g. finger and hand protection, access prevention or horizontal danger zone protection).

Perimeter Guarding with Single-Beam Safety Light Sensors

The 3RG782 series of light barriers can be used for applications involving Categories 2 or 4. When combined with the 3RG7825 evaluation unit, the 3RG7823 light barriers, Category 2, allow functions such as start/restart inhibit and contactor monitoring to be implemented. We recommend the 3RG7847 evaluation units for muting functions and for combining with the 3RG7824 light barriers, Category 4.
