Tired of searching for blown fuses in your panel?
Need some fuses but don't have them on hand when you need them?
Want to build a smaller panel?
Want to reduce your costs to build your control panels?

If you answered "yes" to any of the above questions, then you need the 3RV1 Manual Starter Protector, certified as a Type E/F Manual Self Protected Combination Motor Controller from Siemens! The 3RV102, 103 and 104 Series of Type E/F Self Protected Motor Controllers can solve these problems for you quite easily with many additional benefits!

Leading Edge Motor Protection!

The Siemens 3RV1 Manual Starter Protectors combine the protection characteristics of a circuit breaker and a thermal overload relay all into a very compact 3RV1 MSP Type E/F protection device for motors. They are also approved for use by CSA ans UL.
  • Short Circuit Protection
  • Overcurrent Protection
  • Line Protection
  • Overload Protection
  • Phase-Loss Protection
  • Rated Current Adjustment
  • Ambient Temperature Compensation
  • Padlockable in the "OFF" Position

See the difference for yourself!

When you combine a 3RV1 Type E rated MSP with a 3RT Contactor from Siemens you no longer need additional fuses or breakers as up stream protection for the branch.
The 3RV1 MSP has Overload and Short Circuit protection built in which CSA and UL have both approved the 3RV1 MSP for Type E applications all the way up to 75 HP at 600VAC! See below for official documentation.

Since you no longer need to seperate mount a fuse block/holder upstream, you also no longer need to run the wires between the fuses and the contactor which saves money and labour. Additionally, you can eliminate the thermal overlaod relay on the output side of the contactor because the 3RV1 Type E/F MSP offer you the same circuit protection features of the circuit breaker and an overload relay. All you need is you 3RV1 MSP and a 3RT contactor! You can simply use a 3RA Link Module to connect the 3RV1 MSP to the 3RT1 Contactor which saves space and give a nice clean layout to your control panel.

Some of the 3RV1 Benefits

  • No upstream fusing or branch circuit breakers required
  • No more wiring between fuses and contactors
  • Smaller control panels can be achieved
  • Reduction of labour costs to build control panels
  • Less components to buy.
  • Faster build times.
  • Eliminate hassels when fuses need to be replaced, ....just flick the 3RV1 switch!
  • No more searching for blown fuses, ....easily see the 3RV1 tripped switch!
  • Tremendously reduce down times!
  • Touch safe components!
  • UL and CSA22.2 approved up to 75 HP at 600VAC!

CSA & UL Approvals

Siemens 3RV1 Manual Starter Protectors are tested and certified as Type E/F "Manual Self Protected Combination Motor Controllers" when used in combination with a contactor to control a motor.
  • CSA 22.2 (File No. LR12730, Class 3211 08)
  • UL508 (File No. E156943, Product Class NKJH)
As of July 16, 2001, UL does require the use of additional line side terminal blocks for 3RV102 and 3RV104 MSP's. This is to maintain the proper air gap and creepage distances for Type E/F. However, it must be noted that CSA does not require this for Type E/F.
  • 3RV102 requires Type E/F terminal block 3RV1928-1H (only for UL applications)
  • 3RV103 does not require any additional Type E/F terminal blocks.
  • 3RV104 requires Type E/F terminal block 3RT1946-4GA07 (only for UL applications)
