SIMATIC S7-300 PLC

Link to the Latest S7-300 Information

The SIMATIC ® S7-300T is the modular mini PLC system for the low-end and mid performance ranges with a comprehensive range of modules for optimum adaptation to the automation task. Its modular construction, simple implementation of distributed structures, versatile networking and user-friendly operation make the SIMATIC ® S7-300T an economical, sensible solution for a wide range of automation tasks.

You can even get a ET200 Remote I/O station with an S7-300 CPU built right in the slave node, ..an amazing innovation for distributed control.

SIMATIC S7-300 "Compact"

Siemens has extending its range of SIMATIC S7-300 Programmable Controllers with a new series of compact CPU's. These are only half as wide as the other S7-300 CPU's and represent the entry-level models for Totally Integrated Automation. There are 3 basic types of devices - with a total of six versions that are available. Each of the CPU's differ in their memory and distributed I/O configuration as well as their onboard interfaces and functionality.

  • The most powerful "Compact" model has 24 digital inputs/16 digital outputs and 5 analog inputs built right in.
  • All new compact CPU's are equipped with technology functions - for positioning/simple motion control, counting and closed-loop control.
  • For greater communication requirements, the user can select a S7-300 Compact CPU with an Integrated Serial (PtP) or Profibus-DP (DP) Interface. This can be configured as a master or as a slave.
  • The CPU's have a memory capacity of up to 48 Kbyte and provide considerable performance enhancement thanks to their short instruction execution times.
  • NEW! SIMATIC Micro Memory Card (MMC) are available up to 4 MB and used as non-volatile memory. This permits the user to implement larger programs by enabling the storage of a complete project (with symbols and comments). The MMC can be read and written to during operation allowing the user to archive data such as measured values or process recipes. The MMC backs up RAM memory without the need for batteries.

SIMATIC S7-300 "Outdoor"

Proven PLC Technology can now operate in even the toughest conditions! The New Extremely Rugged S7-300T "Outdoor" makes it possible to substantially reduce time and costs and simplify the work involved in planning special solutions and integrating them into the overall automation system. It takes temperatures from -25°C to +70°C in stride. It doesn't mind dampness or being subjected to condensation or ice conditions for short periods. Even jolting or shaking have no effect. The SIMATIC ® S7-300T Outdoor PLC repels the attacks of "Extreme" environments!

The applications of the SIMATIC S7-300T "Outdoor" are as versatile as its exceptional capabilities:

  • Traffic Light Controls
  • Traffic Guidance Systems
  • Sewage Treatment Plants
  • Climate Controlled Warehousing
  • Transportation Systems
  • Mining Industry
  • Chemical Plants
  • Material Handling

SIMATIC S7-300F "Safety PLC"

The Distributed Safety system with SIMATIC S7-300F and the SIMATIC ET 200S/ET200M failsafe signal modules, were specially developed for distributed safety-relevant applications in production engineering. It offers safety-relevant functionality for the protection of man, machine and the environment using modern electronics and replaces conventional mechanical components.

The CPU 315F-2 DP is based on a standard CPU whose operating system has been expanded by various protective mechanisms in order to enable the processing of safety-relevant application programs. However, there are also no restrictions when processing non-safety-relevant programs.

Communication between the peripheral modules and the CPU is only over PROFIBUS DP. The data is encapsulated in accordance with the PROFIsafe profile so that the data can be transmitted over the standard field bus without being influenced by any other non-safety-relevant bus subscribers.

The ET 200M and/or ET 200S are used for the distributed expansion of a failsafe S7-300F or S7-400F. In a centralized configuration, the S7-300F CPU can be expanded with failsafe digital SM 326 I/O modules. All failsafe modules can diagnose internal and external faults, and are internally redundant. They have their own self-tests and fulfill the safety requirements. In addition, "failsafe" and "non failsafe" I/O modules can be combined in an ET 200 station. Both the failsafe and the standard I/O modules are interfaced via a fieldbus system, i.e. PROFIBUS with the PROFIsafe profile.

The failsafe SIMATIC system meets the highest safety requirements:

  • IEC 61508 (up to SIL 3)
  • EN 954 (up to Category 4)
  • NFPA 79 - 2002
  • NFPA 85
  • TÜV certificate no.: Z2 02 03 20411 009
